Difference between 5 kingdoms and 3 domain?

What is the difference between them?
And why do we use the domain system now?

  1. The domains are the bigger picture, and the kingdoms are the more specific ones in the domain. It all has to do with biology. The domain system is more general and includes more categories of things

  2. The 5 kingdoms were:

    Moneran
    Protista
    Plantae
    Animalia
    Fungi

    This is an extremely inaccurate classification method. Moneran (bacteria) are very diverse in and of themselves, and deserve their own domain. Also, there are other types of "bacteria-like" organisms (known as archaea), which should not be grouped together with the bacteria because they are very, very different. Previously, these two groups were lumped together as one kingdom.

    The remaining 4 kingdoms– plants, animals, fungi, and protists– are all eukaryotes. That's why they should all be placed within the same domain.

    The 3 domains are:

    Bacteria
    Archaea
    Eukarya
