So it is safe to understand that I only need to register a domains for eg. mydomanin.com or mydomain.net … and then the hosting company gives me access to the subdomains like support.mydomain.com…. and i do not have to register support.mydomain.com as such

If I'm not happy with the service and I want to move my site to another host, I'll have to have the domain name point to the new site.
