Can i registe my domain name at one company and host it from other?

ur right . But i have a doubt whether the forwarding would decrease the speed.
so would the spped would be same as the one hosted with same domain providers?

Yes, of course. Only you need to connect them both using the appropriate DNS.
For example if you book a domain from domains.yahoo.com and already have hosted your site at freewebs.com, you can just forward your domain to freewebs.com.
If ur domain-provider don't have the forwarding option, u can use a free DNS provider like Zoneedit(www.zoneedit.com) to get a free DNS.

Beleive me, You can't discern any lag during page-download. You can even mask(cloak) the URL so that nobody - atleast the lay users- wont know about the redirection.
