FrontPage extensions enable the end-user (or webmaster) to upload to the website straight from FrontPage. The EU just needs to type in the web address instead of uploading the files themselves to an FTP site that happens to be the directory of the web site.
Allowing or otherwise loading FrontPage extensions is more beneficial for synchronization, especially when multiple EUs upload to the same site.
