Is there a way to streamline installing program updates on many computers on the same domain?

We get program updates on almost a weekly basis which means I'm spending several hours a week just installing updates. The computers are all on the same domain.

    I know it can be done in a 'Managed Environment' with Windows Server. See http://technet2.microsoft.com/windowsserver/en/library/f7551526-8666-4b00-8890-9ef095e43c8b1033.mspx?mfr=true for more details.

    The basic idea is that the server pushes the relevant updates to all managed PCs at schedueled times, e.g. 2AM, when disruption is going to be minimal. All the PCs are updated synchronously

    WSUS – Windows Software Update Services. Install on the server. WSUS downloads the updates and distributes them to the client machines. As I recall, there are some group policy entries that are required as well but they are easy and explained well in the WSUS documentation.
