Not at all, you can not point to free hosting.
If a free hosting provider have NS Nameserver, you can set up it in your domain.
If none, you can use your domain (with NS Nameserver of domain provider) redirect to your free hosting website.
<script>
window.location = "www.abc.freehost.com";
</script>

Hmm ur question is not correct,Actually http://www.abc.freehost.com would be a subdomain for freehost.com,Can you plz tell wht u would like to do.For example if u wanted to point an existing website http://www.abc.com to a new website http://www.abc.net that shud be done either from control panel or u can ask ur existing hosting provider to do that if u want more details send ur clear question to me at satish.dreamz@gmail.com
