How do you register a web page without going through someone like godaddy.com?

I have the tools to build a web page for my business but I lack the know how as to get it up and going.

    You mean register a domain name? You can't register a domain name by yourself. Unless your willing to pay a ton ton more then it would be to register one at godaddy.com which would be cheaper(10$ a year) and more effective and efficient.

    Other then that, you can either get web hosting from someone like godaddy(although i would suggest another host, they have great domain names, but terrible hosting) or THAT you can host on a home computer if you want. The domain name you must get at a register, but you can host from a hosting provider or yourself.
