How would I start my own web hosting company?
Posted on Jan 02, 2009 under web hosting | 8 CommentsHello, I am sekking he help of someone who can tell me how to start a web hosting company, I know that I would need a web server, but what I am having a hard time trying to understand is how do I make it so the server knows who paid for 5GB, and gives them thier 5GB, and knows who paid for 25GB, and gives them that?
Also how would I set up a password system so not everyone can change it.

The webserver can track traffic on a site-by-site basis (there are tools to support this). On a LAMP server, it is easy to set disk space quotas on users when you set them up.

If you use your own servers, there's a whole lot more you have to worry about than setting passwords to protect settings. The security and availablility of your customer's sites is not an easy thing to guarantee.
