Problems uploading to Godaddy w/FileZilla? Please help!?
Posted on Mar 27, 2009 under GoDaddy.com | 5 CommentsI have a godaddy account, and most of my website is done and i want to start uploading the pages. I downloaded an ftp client FileZilla because everyone recommended that.
I try to connect, go to site manager, and enter everything like this:
host: ftp://www.mywebsitehere.com
port 21
servertype: ftp
username: myusername
password: mypassword
and it does NOT work. it just keeps say “connection timed out” over and over again. I don’t have any idea what I’m doing wrong because I think I’m following all the directions right?
Please help!! I’m a total newbie at all of this, so I’m probably doing something totally obvious wrong, but this is driving me nuts!!
They are .html files.. I don't know if that has anything to do with it.
But I can't seem to connect anyway.
But I just paid for a year yesterday!!
i've been double checking all day.. it's fine. is there any way my 1 year hosting isn't activated or something? i'm not sure what you mean by passive :-/
okay, i tried it in passive mode, that didn't work either.

double check you have typed everything right
but Server Timed out… that sounds like… you need to pay for another year or something…

Bouble check everything likely a typo somewhere..
Also check if godaddy want’s FTP setup in PASSIVE mode (Filezilla has this option).

The FTP input info looks correct. Try another FTP program like SmartFTP and see if you get same results. Someone else was having the same problem with godaddy.com and FTP.
If you can see your site on the web it is active. Whether active/passive wouldn’t matter to accessing your site via FTP anyway.
Check with the Support page for the FTP FAQs.
