This is kind of an open-ended question so I’m going to assume you’re wondering how to get the domain name pointed to the site you built your friend and go from there.

First step is to select a hosting company. I’ve ranked ten here: http://www.webguides4u.com and written an article on getting started with your hosting company here: http://webguides4u.com/beginningHosting.html

After you’ve selected and signed up with your hosting company, you’ll want to upload the site you’ve built to the provided server space. Then you’ll either hit the company’s technical support forums, or call their technical support department for their name servers (usually NS1.hostingcompanyname.com and NS2.hostingcompanyname.com). After that you’ll go to GoDaddy and select the option to manage your domain.

There will be a bar of graphics above your list of owned domains. After you put a checkbox next to the domain you wish to manage, you’ll select the nameserver icon. From there, just enter in the nameservers you received from your hosting company and click OK.

Give it 24-48 hours to propagate, and you’re good to go. I hope this helps.
