  1. You should read the page about their domain name service properly.

You pay $9.99 + 20c ICANN fee for the domain name.

There are no catches, I’ve been using buying domain names from them for years with no problems. I do not use them for hosting though as i’ve got my own web servers.

There are other services that you may want to pay for, but they give you what you need for free. You also get everything under the "Free Extras" for free. The hosting you get is ad-supported and is included in the price.

  2. You’re just talking about the domain name. Godaddy.com is mainly a domain name re-seller. When you purchase a domain, you get the sole rights to use the name you buy. Say you want to buy fillinyoursite.com. You go to godaddy.com and buy JUST that name. If you actually want to build a website, you also need to purchase a hosting package to attach to your domain. This gives you a specified amount of online storage where you store the files that make up your website.

  3. No, that’s just for a domain name. You also need hosting for your site.

I recommend one of these: http://www.hosttell.com/

Powweb has the best offer right now. It’s on a 50% sale – $3.88/month ($46.56/year), and you get a free domain from them. (like http://www.yourwebsite.com)
