Posted on Jan 18, 2011 under best hosting | 46 CommentsFarmed fish have carcinogens in them, as well as cancer causing agents inside of them because of the processed food they are being fed. On the other hand, wild fish could go endangered if they are the only ones on the market, and farmed fish are very convenient to all if only they didn’t harm you with antibodies and PCB’s. If someone could please clarify which they would choose and able reasons to toheir decisions I would apprechiate it, thanks.

January 18th, 2011 at 8:50 amYou raise a good question. In addition to the concern over what farmed fish are being fed is a rising concern of the impact they have on native stock. This happens because companies farming fish farm the most economically viable species in the most economically viable location. Often, this means that farmed fish are not native to the area they are farmed in. When they escape (and the do escape) they spread disease among native fish, and compete for food and spawning sites. There is also concern that in some cases the farmed fish are similar species and can mate with wild fish. This leads to pollution of the gene pool and a loss of the native species. This concern is magnified when you consider that there are genetically modified fish being developed for farming.
Your other concern, of species becoming endangered (or even going extinct) is also a real possibility due to overfishing. Many fish species are in serious danger, largely because safeguards to protect fish stocks remain unenforced.
If you are going to eat fish, your best bet is to stick to either, wild caught fish with healthy populations or farmed fish that are farmed with sustainable, environmentally benign methods.
It would be a tough job to do the research yourself to find out which species meet these requirements. Luckely, some very reliable organizations have already done it. Including the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

The fact is, we have posioned our planet to the point there is no clean fish to eat anymore.
The cleanest are salmon from Chile and Alaska, farmed Tilapia from China, and shrimp which for some reason does not store much mercury in it’s body. Even these examples it is recomened you eat only a pound per week.
This topic is one of many similar reasons for the organic and vegetarian and homesteading movements. Our food supply is filthy and full of toxic chemicals, not to mention our top soils are leached of most of it’s nutrients.

January 18th, 2011 at 8:50 amThat would depend on where the fish was farmed or grew wild. Economically for me, wild is less expensive, I catch my own. Farm raise in the markets do help coserve wild population however, as you pinted out they, like most comercially produced food animals are fed feeds that contain casinogens, hormones and other undesireable chemicals.
For me I would choose wild over farmed for that reason, unless I raised the fish (like my Tillapia).

I guess this really depends on whether you’re going to want to change your hosting supplier. If you’re going to stick with with the hosting provider then it shouldn’t be a problem to get the domain from them as well. Just check if you can change where the domain names point to if you register them with your hosting provider. I don’t think they’re allowed to lock them to just their servers as you’re paying for the name rental so you should be able to choose where they point.

Not only can you point domains to anywhere, you can also transfer them to and from different domain companies. If you have other domains, its easiest to keep them in one place. As far as I know, any domain company will allow you to point a domain to a different place. I am almost possible due to net neutrality, I don’t think they can legally stop you from changing the pointer, or transferring a domain.
Also, your domain isn’t really hosted with the company, pointers are sent out to domain name servers which reroute traffic to your page. You won’t lose your domain if the company goes out of business if your contact information is kept up to date in the domain registry, you can always port the domain to a new place. I have done this several times with a half a dozen different domains.
