transfer a databse from dreamhost to godaddy?

Posted on Nov 20, 2009 under GoDaddy.com | 5 Comments

I created a joomla site in dreamhost. I would like to transfer it over to godaddy. I have already installed joomla on godaddy but it is a blank site, to move all my content over I have to transfer my database? All I kow is that I have access to myadmin on dreamhost…but how do I get it from that database to godaddy? I found an export but had no idea what the settings were so I just clicked export and it gave me a myfile.sql.zip file…is this what I need?

im trying to ftp with iweb to godaddy but im not sure about somethings. it asks me for my username and password, is this the same user name and password i use to log into godaddy.com to view my account? i forgot if i made other passwords.

FTP Address or Hostname: Your Domain Name
FTP Username & Password: You selected both of these during account creation
Start Directory: You should leave this blank or include a single forward slash (i.e. /)
FTP Port: You should enter Standard, or 21

If I register a Domain name at GoDaddy, would I actually own it?

Posted on Nov 20, 2009 under GoDaddy.com | 793 Comments

I’m trying to start a website. I’m new, but I think I understand the first three steps. Register a Domain, find a host, and Install Wordpress. Doing some research I read a few places that registering a Domain does not mean you actually own it. Is this true? If so, what exactly does that mean? Would I ever be able to sell the site? Someone please explain. Thank you.

Do 1&1 domain names come with free web hosting (even if it’s ad supported) like GoDaddy?

If so, does it come with PHP?

Does the free ad supported hosting you get from GoDaddy when you buy a domain name support PHP and/or MySQL?

When you buy a domain name from GoDaddy, you get ad supported hosting free. Does this support MySQL, PHP, or other server technologies?

How long until CNAME changes take effect? (godaddy)?

Posted on Nov 20, 2009 under GoDaddy.com | 285 Comments

So I was changing the CNAME details on my godaddy domain to put some google adsense ads there, but it was really stupid and I need to change it back. When i changed it to the ads, it was INSTANT, but then when i tried to change it back, it still gives me a 404 error. I changed the CNAME settings back to default and it’s still giving me a 404 error. should I wait 1-3 days until my website comes back? It’s actually a blogger blog with a godaddy domain registered through google.
