Godaddy.com? How does it work?

Posted on Jan 04, 2010 under GoDaddy.com | 8 Comments

I have a few questions about godaddy.com.

Is it a safe site if I give payment plan info (ie: Paypal, credit)?
How much does it cost? I looked on the site, but I found it a bit confusing. It said $11 for 1 year through 10 years. Is this true?
Can I manage the site myself?
Does the godaddy name appear on my site? Does it say sitename.godaddy.com like website makers?
Is it true sites made on godaddy.com are easily hacked?
How does selling your site work? Does godaddy take a percentage?

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you so much.
Do ads appear on my website?

  1. yes it is a safe site to use since..
    http://www.godaddy.com/Hosting/Legacy.aspx?ci=8971 for the price plans.
yes you manage the website yourself or you can use their site builder program which costs Starting at $4.99 per month.
or you can use your own scripts and design.

Does the godaddy name appear on my site?
no you can have your own domain like http://www.whatever.com

well a lot of hosting, are hacked but dont admit it but godaddy do
http://www.dotcult.com/my-godaddy-google-accounts-hacked that was back in January 30th, 2008

godaddy only make profits from montly hosting and adverts on their website, they dont make any money from site unless you add adverts from them, and u get a tiny cut of the profits.

  2. Go daddy is a company who sells domain names and hosting and to have website for the world to see you need to register a domain name and get a hosting account and upload your website.
No go daddy will not have their name if you buy your own domain name.

  3. godaddy has never stolen anything from me.

cost depends upon the type of domain you purchase. .com is more expencive than .biz for example, because of popularity etc etc.

yes 11 is more than enough.

when you buy a domain name you are NOT purchasing webspace. you CAN buy webspace from them too but they SUCK so use something like powweb.com instead.

the rest of your questions assume you are HOSTING with godaddy… don’t HOST with them… you can’t hack a domain name. which is what you’re buying there.

as far as selling your site. to be COMPLETELY honest. given that you don’t know these things about websites, not to sound rude but, your site will be worth -0- … if you do make a site that is worth something, draws a lot of money and is productive, you’ll most likely have figured out how to sell it by then given the fact you have a lot to learn about the business as is.

no adds will appear on your site unless you put them there.

in fact NOTHING appears on your site…. until you put it there.

If you need help building a site, and have a budget let me know.

  4. I’d say financially, godaddy is safe.

BUT.. you shouldn’t use them for hosting. There are two parts to a website

    A. The Domain Name

    B. The Hosting provider

The place that registers your domain (the domain registrar) should NEVER be the same place that hosts your website.

For hosting, godaddy isn’t very good. (they’re a fine registrar though)

    See this:

(And don’t just take my word for it, look around)
