Is web-hosting really that cheap?

I am currently looking to host a website for the fun of it through ipage.com. when it says $3.50 per month (billed 84.00 for 24 months), do you just get charged for that much once or is it repetitive?
If you know any other good webhosting sites, hook it up.

You can get real cheap hosting if you look around, the main thing when choosing a hosting package is that it comes with all the features you need. The features with iPage seem pretty decent I have just had a look

I’m not 100% percent on how the billing works but you’ll probably find you will be direct debited $3.50+VAT per month but be tied into a yearly contract. You should contact iPage directly for the full information.

Yes, but be careful because this can one of those things where "you get what you pay for".
The most important thing I consider with a host (after my feature requirements are met) is their customer service response. If they lack in this area, you are completely helpless when there is an issue. I usually send a question or two before signing up to see how quick I get an answer.
Hosting fees are ongoing/never ending. It you pay monthly, you are billed every month, if yearly, you will be billed once a year
I have also run into problems where companies offer ridiculous low rates and acquire many new customers quickly. Things are ok initially and then there are server performance issues, slow response time…. It can be a hassle to move to a new hosting company. (A huge hassle if you dont have much technical knowledge about the process)

web-hosting is very cheap.in some websites they will charge a bit high and i some websites there will be no monthly payments,you have to pay quarterly. previously i was searching for the same question and i found a website where the starter plan is starting at just $1 per month.I’m using this hosting since 6 months and i don’t have any problem.you can have a look from my source

If you go with cheap hosting be sure it’s not setup with pre set templates and no ftp. That ipage deal looks like it is setup that way. It’s ok if you don’t mind a really simple website where you can’t change the way it looks all that much. It’s meant for total beginners that won’t be creating the pages themselves.
A better package would be something with cPanel and php/mysql. This would allow you to install forums, blogs, create your own pages, etc… But, as I said above if you don’t plan on designing the pages yourself and don’t mind a really simple website, then that package may work for you.
